Lake Crucible is a beautiful tiny iceberg-studded lake that lies in the heart of Mt Aspiring National Park within the Siberia Valley. Bessie and I had tried to get here on a previous hike and due to time restrictions were not able to make it so we were determined to get back! Last summer we roped our friend Neil into the hike and flew into the Siberia Valley for a 2 day/1 night tramp. The walk up to Lake Crucible is a bit of a hike but when we reached the top it was well worth it! From here we headed back down the valley to our hut for the evening where we enjoyed bag wine and Neil’s chicken!
