Many visitors come to Kalaw to trek in the countryside - and we did just that! On our second day in Kalaw we met our trekking guide around 8:30 in the morning, and set off for the day to explore the local hillside villages, cross through farmland, and hike up mountains. We had a great day learning about the local culture - we learned the uses for many of the plants and herbs, watched ladies gather fresh ginger, and visited a local tea farmer in his house to see how he ferments the tea leaves for the famous Myanmar tea leaf salad.
Around mid-day we arrived to the Mountain Top Restaurant for a lunch of fresh avocado salad, homemade curries, and of course rice - lots and lots of rice. We capped our meal with fresh fruit and were on back on our way trekking back to Kalaw!
