During my three weeks in Laos I fell in love with the food so it seemed fitting to end my time in the country with a hands on full day of cooking with Tamarind Cooking Class in Luang Prabang.
We started the day visiting a large local market on the outskirts of town where we learned about various types of rice, spices, fruits, and vegetables. We tried several local snacks as well - my favorite being the River Seaweed which is made from the seaweed found in the Mekong River.
From the market we travelled to the Tamarind cooking class bungalow in the Laos jungle and spent the day learning how to make various popular dishes. I had the most wonderful time mixing sauces, grilling meat, and learning how to make the famous sticky rice.
At the end of the day we all sat down and enjoyed the feast we had created!
